Over a hundred people attended the Durango Fire Protection District dedication and open house of the Fire Training Facility at 182 Sheppard Drive in Bodo Park on Saturday. A training exercise was demonstrated, and there were free hot dogs, hamburger,s snow cones and different organizations with informational booths. The district will train the 180 firefighters in their ranks at the facility and open it to regional organizations. The fire tower was built for multiuse, allowing law enforcement, search and rescue and others to train there. The area is large enough to set up the driving course for driver/operator training with all of the different types of fire trucks.
