A woodworker for about 15 years and a Durangoan for about seven, Tim Hassemer makes everything under the sun.
“You name it. I build everything – anything from earrings to cabinetry, furniture, cooking utensils, kitchenware,” he said. “I do a lot of custom orders, I do games, chess sets.”
Hassemer sells his creations at the Durango Farmers Market through his woodworking business, Gallery H. But his work can also be found at Sticks & Stones Handmade, the gift shop full of handcrafted work from local artists at 922 Main Ave. he owns with his wife, Micki.
“It’s all local art, and the woodwork is all part of that as well,” he said.
Gallery H and Sticks & Stones are both local businesses in the truest sense, and a lot of the material Hassemer uses is repurposed.
“Everything is all-local, which is kind of a good little niche – people are kind of into that,” he said. “Everything is sourced locally, everything is made locally, all of the artists in our store are Durango local.”
