It’s rare that a business’ name doubles as baking advice, but it’s certainly true for Jessica Lile’s Measure With Your Heart.

Lile, who has lived in Durango for 27 years, said she has been baking for her entire life. She formed Measure With Your Heart last year to share that passion.

“I love making people happy with food,” she said. “I like having a job that makes people happy.”

Lile said that the main focus of her baking is cookies, but she also makes breads, brownies, cinnamon rolls and coffee cakes.

“Cookies are my main thing, I would say,” she said. “I enjoy it and I make it with love.”

Lile makes the standards, such as chocolate chip cookies – a favorite that her mother loved cooking for her father, according to a post on the business’ Facebook page – but she thinks outside of the box as well. This summer, she has made churro cheesecake cookies, banana cream pie cookies, almond croissant cookies and peach cobbler cinnamon rolls.

Lile and Measure With Your Heart can be found at the Durango Farmers Market and events such as the Summer Fun Arts & Crafts Fair.
