One person is dead and another critically injured after a house fire Saturday afternoon on San Juan County Road 5795 in Wildhorse Valley.

San Juan County Fire and Rescue and Farmington Fire Department were called to the scene about 2 p.m.

Crews found the house ablaze, and with assistance from San Juan County Sheriff’s deputies, removed two occupants, according to a news release from San Juan County.

Both were taken to San Juan Regional Medical Center for treatment of their injuries.

“One occupant was pronounced dead at the hospital, the other is in critical condition,” county spokesman Devin Neeley said. He would not release their identities.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, and Neeley said foul play is not suspected.
