Ken & Sue’s, a mainstay on Main Avenue for 22 years, is for sale, and owners Ken and Sue Fusco are planning to retire after helping a new owner settle in at one of Durango’s most popular restaurants.
“We’ve cherished every year of this experience, and have many things to be grateful for. After two decades of having the honor of serving our wonderful community, it’s time for us to pass this opportunity on to someone who has the enthusiasm and spirit to carry forward this legacy,” Sue Fusco said in an advertisement placed in The Durango Herald.
Ken Fusco declined to comment for the story.
According to the BizBuySell website, the business is for sale for $575,000. It has an estimated annual gross revenue of $2.5 million and rent of $5,000 a month for its 3,514-square-foot operation at 636 Main Ave. The sale price does not include the building or the land.
According to the Fuscos’ advertisement, they opened the restaurant in 1998 by renovating property at 937 Main Ave. For the past 19 years, the Fuscos have operated their restaurant at its current location in the 600 block of Main Avenue.
The advertisement touts Ken & Sue’s five-star rating in Trip Advisor and its top finishes in the annual Durango Herald’s Reader Choice Awards.
“The couple are currently looking for the right person to take over and continue with the success they have worked diligently to cultivate over the past two decades on Main Avenue in historic downtown Durango. The Fuscos, who have been a supportive mainstay of the community, hope to be a resource to someone who will carry the torch of their wonderful staff, recipes and traditions of offering a top-quality dining experience,” the advertisement says.
Sue Fusco said the couple plans to remain in the community and added: “We feel it’s our time to step back and hand over the reins of the business. We look to the future and are excited to provide an opportunity for someone to step in and operate a successful and established downtown restaurant, and also make it their own.”
