There’s probably nothing worse than being cooped up in the house – and by now, we’ve been under Colorado’s stay-at-home order for what feels like years. And while this may be nirvana for the more quiet types, for some of us, we’ve probably hit the advanced stages of fidgeting.
We offer those who may be climbing the walls something to keep you busy, courtesy of local artist Dan Groth.
An avid doodler, Groth created “The Colorin’ Book” in November 2016 after a friend saw him doodling at a trivia night and suggested he make a coloring book. Now, as a way to help us through the weirdness, Groth is inviting people to download pages from the book that they can color. And these aren’t just quick-and-dirty, done-in-2-seconds pictures – the detail Groth has put into each one will keep you busy for a while.
“Part of my creative process a lot of times happens where I’ll get an idea that really sparks something, and I’ll just go for it. And that’s exactly what happened,” he said. “It’s been one of those like slow-burn things where people were kind of into it at first and then it keeps, it’s been nice like in the last year or two, people have been, especially since I started being represented at Studio &, it’s kind of when people would run across it and see it. It’s been great to have the Durango Creative District approach me about it.”
The pages are available free online, but donations are always welcome.
“I’m happy that people are getting to see it,” Groth said.
