Matheson awarded Durango Botanic Gardens Docent of the Quarter

Sharon Matheson was awarded the Durango Botanic Gardens Docent of the Quarter Award during the docent social on Sept. 8.

She and her husband moved to Durango in 1988. Matheson is a forester, her husband a hydrogeologist, and together they conducted impact studies in forestry, wetlands, fisheries, water resources and soils. Shhe retired as the registrar for Durango High School in 2021, after 15 years with the district. Matheson has been an active member of the DBG since 2017 and became a docent in 2019. She participated in the procurement of a grant for a pergola for the new Literary Garden and, this year, is heading up the annual bulb sale that helps to financially support the organziation’s efforts.
