Modulars are stacked side-by-side, one on top of the other, to form the dual-branded Hampton and Marriott hotel in the 400 block of East Second Avenue in South Durango. The modular components are manufactured outside the area and then trucked into Durango to be stacked. The hotel has faced several delays. Excavation work occurred in 2019, but an empty hole sat vacant for several years before work began. Construction has been consistent in recent months. (Shane Benjamin/Durango Herald)
