Kobe Prior and James Mars both pinned their opponents from Aztec High School on Thursday, but the defending 4A New Mexico state champions won the dual 64-18.
In the varsity matches contested, Aztec outscored Bayfield 28-12.
Prior, however, pinned his opponent Garrett Kirby in 1:35 at 170 pounds to begin the dual.
Later, James Mars stuck Zach Sanders at the 1:49 mark in the 138-pound match.
Darron Boling also won by forfeit for BHS at 113.
Aztec won by forfeit at 182, 195, 220, 126, 132 and 145 pounds and by fall at 285, 106, 152 and 160 pounds.
At 120, Keaton Pickering lost 11-1 by major decision to last year’s 113-pound New Mexico 4A state champion, Talan Olguin.
Deegan Barnes, meanwhile, took last year’s state runner-up, Tony Thompson, into the third period but was pinned late in the match at 152.
The teams also wrestled a handful of exhibition matches, and Logan Valencia picked up another win by fall for the Wolverines.
The Wolverines will be back on the mat Saturday at Delta’s tournament.
