Mild to Wild Rafting & Jeep Tours announces its Colorado Raft Guide Training Course, running May 7 to 23. This 17-day course provides state-certified training for people seeking employment as raft guides for the 2025 season.
The course begins in Moab, Utah, before transitioning to Durango, offering participants the opportunity to learn both oar and paddle boat navigational skills. Trainees will navigate the Lower Animas, San Miguel and Piedra Rivers, gaining experience in diverse water conditions.
The training includes instruction in leadership, guest care, river rescue, raft rigging and river navigation. Participants will spend 10 days on the Lower Animas, two days on the San Miguel and one day on the Piedra.
Upon completion, participants will exceed the requirements of a Class III river guide, with opportunities for employment in Durango and Telluride, including the possibility to guide multiday trips.
The course is open to anyone 18 or older seeking employment with Mild to Wild.
