After 30 years in the fire service, 11 of which serving the San Juan County Fire Department, Chief Craig Daugherty has announced his retirement, effective Dec. 28.
Chief Daugherty started at the San Juan County Fire Department in 2008 as Wildland Division Chief, promoted to deputy fire chief in 2010 then chief in 2015. Daugherty is also active in national deployments as part of an Interagency Type I Incident Management Team.
In retirement, Daugherty plans to spend more time with his family and continue to train the next generation of firefighters.
