Telluride Miners rock Bayfield soccer in first half

Wolverines threaten in second

A first win this season continued to elude the Wolverines on Tuesday.

The Bayfield High School boys soccer team fell to 0-8 overall with a 4-0 loss to the Telluride Miners at home inside Wolverine Country Stadium. Telluride (4-2-1) finished a season sweep of Bayfield after it had beat the Wolverines 10-0 on Sept. 3 in Telluride.

Junior forward South Livermore scored quickly in the second minute. Jack Courter then assisted Jonah Jodlowski for another goal in the eighth minute. Jodlowski would score again in the 29th minute, and the first-half barrage would conclude with a Landon Kusuno goal for Telluride in the 39th minute.

Bayfield threatened the Telluride goal three times. The first came when a Braden Thayer penalty kick was saved by Telluride’s Hayden Tealdi in the 47th minute. Tealdi also made a stop against Callum Marshall in a one-on-one situation in the 74th minute and against a header from Dylan Morrow in the 77th,

The Wolverines will welcome a non-league match against Kirtland Central (10-2) out of New Mexico at 11 a.m. Saturday.
