Steve Brashear of Farmington caught this 46-inch pike in mid-May in Vallecito. It's only a half-inch shorter than the state record for a pike.
Vallecito Marina will have its grand opening from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday.
Faced last year with the departure of the marina operator, the Vallecito Conservation and Sporting Association scrambled to buy equipment and get a marina operating by July. This year, the group is pleased to be up and running in May for the start of the summer season.
Saturday's event includes free hot dogs and sodas, gear demonstrations by local businesses, prizes, kids activities and prizes, and more.
The Bayfield Chamber of Commerce will conduct a ribbon cutting.
Next weekend, Vallecito groups will host the annual summer fishing tournament on Saturday, June 4.
