A Bloomfield woman is accused of assaulting two police officers, a fireman and a paramedic after threatening officers with a plastic knife.

Farmington Police arrested Angela Seymour, 26, after a length struggle at the Farmington Inn, where police were dispatched at 2:11 p.m. July 12 in reference to the woman reportedly “hanging halfway over the railing,” according to the statement of probable cause.

Management told police that Seymour “had thrown a trash can off the balcony,” and the manager wanted her and any other people in the room removed from the property, according to the statement of probable cause.

When police went to the room, Seymour reportedly “was talking very fast not making any sense,” and she stated that she had hurt her finger, court records state.

Police called for paramedics and stated “a small glass meth pipe” was on the floor, court records state.

Paramedics came and were checking Seymour’s vitals, when she allegedly “stood up, grabbed a plastic knife off the desk, held it up” and pointed it at everyone in the room, according to the statement of probable cause.

The officer stated he “was in fear for them and my life,” so he started to draw his “pistol,” when Seymour looked away and he disarmed her, according to the statement of probable cause.

The woman was placed in handcuffs, but when police attempted to take her out of the room, she reportedly “stated she wanted to throw herself off the ledge,” and then, “lifted her feet and tried” to kick both officers. She also reportedly “attempted to bite” one of the them, court records state.

While continuing to struggle, Seymour reportedly kicked a fireman and spit in an officer’s eye. She continued to struggle after being given a “shot of Ativan to calm her down,” according to the statement.

It was not until Seymour was at San Juan Regional Medical Center and given a shot of Ketamine that she was calm and went to sleep, court records state.

Seymour faces charges of third-degree felony aggravated assault upon a peace officer, two counts of fourth-degree felony aggravated battery upon a peace officer, fourth-degree aggravated battery upon a health care worker, fourth-degree felony battery upon a health care worker and resisting, evading or obstructing an officer.

She was booked into the San Juan County Detention Center on July 12 and was released July 15. Her preliminary hearing is set for July 24 in San Juan County Magistrate Court.
