100 years ago: A.P. Camp, “president of the First National Bank,” left Durango for Denver, where he would spend a week visiting his wife, who was enjoying an extended stay in the city.
75 years ago: A Farmington teenager and his girl companion were injured near Aztec when the car they were driving turned over “three or four times” and “came to a rest at the side of the road in a tangled mass of wreckage.”
50 years ago: Mrs. Arthur Ballantine, co-publisher of The Durango Herald, was elected as the first woman chair of Colorado Associated Press members.
25 years ago: A 32-year-old man, who was arrested on theft and fraud charges while living at the Wildcat Canyon Lodge, was admitted to the intensive care unit of Mercy Medical Center. He would likely be “spending a good deal of time in jail” when released.
