Conservation Helping Hands applications open

The San Juan Conservation District and Pine River Conservation District are offering a program, “Conservation Helping Hand,” to help landowners with property in the Archuleta County and Pine River areas. Are you interested in implementing a conservation practice on your property, but need help with the cost? The program will award grants to pay for 50% of a project, up to $4,000.

Applications will be accepted until April 24. Applications will be reviewed by the elected board members and prioritized based on the targeted resource concern, environmental benefits and cost of implementation. Funded project applicants will be notified by May 13. All projects must begin by July 1 and be complete by Sept. 26.

Technical assistance will be provided by Natural Resources Conservation Service and all approved projects must meet NRCS standards and specifications.

Applications are available at the NRCS Office in Durango (31 Suttle Drive), 259-3289; or Pagosa Springs (505A County Road 600), 731-3615.
