Continuing the dialogue for a stronger community

Responding to Jim Sims (Herald, Dec. 3): Jim, thank you for your thoughtful observations about my recent letters. I appreciate the opportunity to clarify my commitment to fostering constructive dialogue among Republicans, Democrats and unaffiliated voters alike.

Our community thrives when we find ways to engage respectfully and work together toward shared solutions. While we may approach challenges from different perspectives, I firmly believe that open and honest conversations help us identify common ground and build stronger connections across political divides.

Durango’s variety of perspectives is something to embrace, and I am dedicated to fostering meaningful conversations that reflect the needs and values of our community. Any perceived shift in my tone stems from a renewed focus on encouraging collaboration and mutual understanding, principles I hope resonate with readers from all political backgrounds. Rest assured, my words and values are entirely my own.

Thank you again for your feedback and for encouraging an approach that brings people together. Let’s keep the dialogue going.

Hope Scheppelman, Vice-Chairwoman Republican Party
