I'm very aware of the location for the RV resort because I passed that area for 30 years on the way to visit family who still live there before I moved to Aztec. I can't believe the developer thinks reducing the stalls from 277 to 275 will make an impact. The only way to make an impact is to deny this development.
Does the La Plata County Community Development Department believe this resort is the best use of that land? Do any of the members live nearby? How would they feel if this project was built near their neighborhood?
The area is somewhat tranquil but all the RVs and traffic will definitely change that, to say nothing of the increase of traffic on 252 that could be more of a danger to bicyclists. What will be the gain for Durango if this goes through?
I'm very disappointed that the “powers that be” will allow this development. With 275 stalls there will be hundreds of people as well as autos that most people pull behind their RV.
I'm not against change or progress but it should be for the good of many not a few. I hope the Animas Valley Action Coalition will stay active with this issue. Remember, once the gate is open it can never be closed.
