Allergist to present study’s findings
Dr. W. Donald Cooke will attend the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology meetings this week in Houston, Texas.
Cooke will present the results of his study “Ten-Year Experience with Sublingual Immunotherapy for Juniper Pollenosis.”
The study relates to the use of under-the-tongue desensitization for patients with an allergy to juniper (cedar) pollen, which is a major spring allergen in the area.

Resolving allergies to be discussed
Caleb Gates, a licensed acupuncturist, will give a presentation called “Resolving Seasonal Allergies, Food Sensitivities and Sinusitis Using Advanced Allergy Therapeutics.” This is a safe, noninvasive treatment to resolve allergy symptoms.
The presentation will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Program Room 2 at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.

Science of sleep to be discussed
In recognition of daylight saving time March 8, Mercy Regional Medical Center invites the public to join pulmonologist and sleep specialist Dr. Peter Edmund Razma for a free presentation about the science of sleep at 5:30 p.m. March 4 at the Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
Razma will explain the sleep process, causes and effects of common sleep disorders, sleep-related difficulties and how to improve sleep quality and duration.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, an estimated 50 million to 70 million U.S. adults have a sleep or wakefulness disorder.
