Leadership should be caring, competent

Should Donald Trump be successful with his deportation plan, the wave of inflation we’ve just been through will seem easy. We don’t have enough workers to fill all the job openings in Durango, let alone the rest of the country, and if Trump deports around 6 million workers, our economy will suffer.

Construction, hotel and restaurant, and meatpacking industries are just the beginning of businesses that won’t have nearly enough employees. With availability of goods and services dropping while demand remains steady means more inflation. The American shopping experience will more resemble what it was like during the pandemic, only there is no pandemic. Of course, Trump won’t care as he’s already forgotten the lies he told you to get you to vote for him and he’s forgotten you already as well. Maybe then we’ll see Trump down on his knees, egg on his face, begging the hated immigrants to please come save our economy. Does anyone else wonder what they’ll want for that? My guess is citizenship and higher wages, thus leading to more inflation. All of this could be avoided with leadership that is both caring and competent, something we will all be sorely lacking soon.
