La Plata County residents are invited to a free community wildfire workshop from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.
The workshop will be hosted by the La Plata County Office of Emergency Management and is intended to educate residents and business owners about preparing properties and structures to minimize the severity and impacts of wildfires. Attendees will become familiar with the “Ready, Set, Go” procedures for preparedness and evacuation. A panel of regional wildfire experts will give a presentation from 1 to 2 p.m.
The first 50 participants will receive a $10 lunch voucher.
