I thought Herald readers might enjoy a bit of backstory on why Snowdown is called “Durango’s Cabin Fever Reliever.”
In 1990, I had 2-year-old twin boys and was pregnant with our daughter. I read a story on old-time patent medicines and really wished there was one to relieve cabin fever. Something clicked in my (probably) sleep-deprived brain.
Snowdown was looking for a theme and I submitted my idea. I think I won a dinner out and a plane ticket I used to fly my mom to Durango that summer to meet her new granddaughter.
I have chuckled for 27 years each time Snowdown gets called the “Original Cabin Fever Reliever.”
Hope it keeps on relieving for another 40 years!
