La Plata County invites residents, businesses, clubs and other organizations to participate in its Adopt a County Road program. With more than 600 miles of county roads in La Plata County, it relies on residents who help our Road & Bridge crews keep the right of way clear of trash.
Individuals or organizations are requested to adopt a minimum two-mile section of county road. Roadside cleanup should occur at least twice a year – once in the spring and once in the fall. La Plata County will place two “Adopt a County Road” signs (one at each end of the adopted section) on the adopted road, which will indicate the individual or organization’s name. The county will provide safety vests and orange trash bags for all participants.
Available roads and an online application are available at lpcgov.org under the Road & Bridge Department tab.
